Facial recognition to be used at British Grand Prix for a second year

Police will use the technology to help prevent criminal activity at the British Grand Prix in July.

Northamptonshire Police will use the technology to help prevent criminal activity at the event, which is expected to host about 480,000 people on 4-7 July. "If you are wanted in Northamptonshire... in surrounding counties, or indeed if we have information that you may be coming to commit crime as part of an organised gang, we will load your image up." It was found that there had been no clear guidance on where the technology could be used and who could be put on a watch list, and that a data protection impact assessment was deficient.
