From a lorry driver to Ruby on rails developer at 38
I recently had the pleasure to interview Pedro David Garcia Lopez, a Ruby and Rails developer based in UK, who used to be a Lorry driver. What's interesting is that he decided to become a developer at the age of 38. This post shares his story and I hope you find it as inspiring as I did!
The lockdown was still around, so there was no interview or chance to connect with people; a 38-year-old man with no experience and fresh for a Bootcamp doesn’t seem like the ideal hiring candidate companies were looking for... Not a single interview or call for months; I was feeling quite anxious about my CV, wondering if it was just going to end up in the bin, but I felt that I could do it, and my passion was higher than ever. I recently had the pleasure to interview Daniela Baron, a Ruby and Rails developer and staff engineer at FundThrough, a fintech company based in Toronto.
