Over the past six months, we’ve spoken to 50+ companies who are looking for a full text search (FTS) solution over data stored in Postgres. It leverages the tsvector data type, which stores text as searchable tokens, and the GIN index, which improves search speeds. Our benchmarks show that Elasticsearch can query billions of rows in milliseconds thanks to its underlying battle-tested Lucene search engine and distributed architecture.
