Games VC funding reaches new plateau after 72% YoY decline | PitchBook

Gaming startups raised $4.1B in 2023, a 72% decline YoY following pandemic era highs according to PitchBook's Q4 2023 Gaming Report.

We’re thrilled to open our call for speakers to our flagship event, GamesBeat Summit 2024 hosted in Los Angeles, where we will explore the theme of “Resilience and Adaption”. Content companies (publishers, developers, studios, games, platforms and gambling) accounted for the a plurality of funding raised and a majority of deals closed. PitchBook expects investors to shift their focus towards familiar business models, like software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms and developer tools, and away from studios.
