Of all the talks at GamesBeat Summit 2024, I thought one of the most interesting was a panel I moderated dubbed Gaming’s Rising Stars: Developers building businesses on Roblox. Our panelists said it involves growing up with games and being authentic to what gamers want on these platforms, where you can find everything from Lego-like blocky graphics to Call of Duty style realism. From an investor’s POV, “If this guy totally screws up, at least we have a piece of the first game and we can make our money back that way.” Jokes aside, I was starting six or seven years ago from open ground.
