Generative AI Has a 'Shoplifting' Problem. This Startup CEO Has a Plan to Fix It
The guy who invented "pay-per-click" advertising is back—this time, he wants to address generative AI's tendency to "shoplift" information from creators.
So do plenty of media executives, artists, writers, musicians, and other rights-holders who are pushing back—it’s hard to keep up with the constant flurry of copyright lawsuits filed against AI companies, alleging that the way they operate amounts to theft. In addition, it has made deals with authors with large followings, including Tony Robbins, Neal Postman, and Scott Galloway. He tells WIRED that it’s smart for people in the news industry to band together to get AI companies access to “credible and current information” to include in their output.
