Gentoo Linux Touts Better MIPS & Alpha Platform Support

While Gentoo Linux recently ended their support for Itanium (IA-64) hardware, this popular source-based Linux distribution continues to support other aging platforms..

Gentoo's MIPS and Alpha hardware support had been struggling like Itanium due to a lack of volunteers. Even for old DEC/Alpha hardware there is volunteer improvements ongoing including a new bootable installation CD. Those interested in using Gentoo Linux with aging MIPS and/or Alpha hardware can find more details on these recent improvements via Gentoo.org.
