Germany to house world's largest stadium solar roof with 11,000 panels

Dortmund is building the world's largest stadium solar roof with 11,000 panels, generating 4.2MW of energy.

Borussia Dortmund, a leading soccer club in Germany’s Bundesliga, is set to construct the world’s largest stadium solar roof with 11,000 photovoltaic panels and a 4.2 MW energy capacity. “With JA SOLAR’s modules, which will power the largest photovoltaic system on any stadium roof, we are setting the course for a more environmentally friendly future,” said Carsten Cramer, Managing Director of Borussia Dortmund. “The PV system on the roof will supply enough green electricity annually to cover the equivalent of the club’s power consumption during all its Bundesliga, German cup, and Champions’ League home matches for a year,” stated RWE.
