GitHub CEO to step down
The move comes as GitHub is facing growing competition from companies like Google and Cursor over AI tools for programmers.
Dohmke will remain at the Microsoft-owned company until the end of the year, after which he will depart to become “a founder again,” he wrote in a blog post. “With more than 1B repos and forks, and over 150 million developers, GitHub has never been stronger than it is today,” Dohmke wrote. The move comes as GitHub is facing growing competition from companies like Google and Cursor over AI tools for programmers.
