Good Docs Describe, Bad Docs Prescribe

You’ll hear people claim that ADRs, RFCs, and other formats are a modern, Agile-friendly kind of documentation — sleeker, lighter, more collaborative than the bloated specs of the '80s and '90s. RFCs – Requests for Comments are documents shared within an organization to propose a change, invite discussion, and gather feedback from stakeholders before implementation begins. They’ve seen what happens when teams make documentation the source of truth: endless effort poured into updating, reviewing, versioning, syncing — and still, it lags behind reality.
