Google is expanding passkeys to its Advanced Protection Program as US election nears

Passkeys have also been used more than 1 billion times to authenticate Google account logins.

Google announced today that it's bringing passkeys to its Advanced Protection Program, which aims to keep high-risk users safe, just in time for the upcoming US elections and amid growing cyber threats. Google's Advanced Protection Program aims to shield certain users who face the biggest risks of getting targeted by cyber attacks, including campaign workers, candidates, journalists, and human rights activists, among others. On top of all that, Google is teaming up with even more players in the industry to boost cross-account protection, making sure billions of users stay safe wherever they roam online.
