Google is fixing the worst thing about taking photos in third-party Android apps


No more camera woes in your Snaps or Instagram shots.

In an X post, Mishaal Rahman explains that Ultra HDR images include extra metadata, also known as a gainmap, showcasing a more vivid and extensive color range when viewed on compatible devices and apps. Rahman discovered that Google is making shooting Ultra HDR photos on any Android app a breeze by adding support in the CameraX API. This enables your Android devices to snap and flaunt photos with the full spectrum of colors and brightness levels their hardware can handle, all while remaining compatible with JPEG files.
