Google loses major appeal in EU, solidifying its $2.8 billion antitrust fine


Arguments with Europe's highest court yield no positivity; the fine will stand.

Google's fight against the EU's proposed ~$2.8 billion fine against it for antitrust practices has ended following arguments with the region's highest court. This case between the two parties stretches back to 2017 when the EU deemed Google guilty of abusing its dominance in the search industry by pushing its comparison shopping service above the competition. Tough times continue as Google has two more ongoing legal battles: its dominant position in the AdTech space and the recent DOJ ruling in the U.S.
