Google Maps wasn't loading in some regions due to an outage

Google Maps is going through an outage and failing to load maps and directions on mobile.

Whatever is causing the issue doesn't seem to have reached the web version of Google Maps, which is still able to provide directions like normal. Ian Carlos Campbell for EngadgetIn the description of the issue on Google's Status Dashboard, the company doesn't provide an explanation for the outage or a particular fix. Given the number of clients who use Google Cloud, the outage impacted everything from Spotify to Snapchat for multiple hours.
