Google Phone's new Lookup tool will help you evade scammers
It's easier to determine whether a missed call from an unknown number is worth a call back.
Previously, tapping a missed call in the Recents tab of the Phone by Google app presented three options: Add contact, Message, and History. Law enforcement agencies across the U.S. have issued warnings over the last few months about phone scams involving police impersonation, where scammers use real names, addresses, and offices to trick unknowing citizens. When it becomes clear that the call is a scam — the bad actors usually ask people to make payment through sketchy means — you may have already wasted a half hour believing it was real.
