Google Removes Black History Month From Calendar

Google has removed several important cultural observances from Google Calendar, including Pride Month, Black History Month and more.

After President Donald Trump signed an executive order to dismantle DEI programs, several major companies, including Google, scaled back their diversity initiatives. In response to the backlash, Google spokesperson Madison Cushman Veld defended the change, stating that the company had received feedback that some events were missing and that manually adding hundreds of cultural observances worldwide was not sustainable. In other news, Disney also removed its “Reimagine Tomorrow” DEI program from its latest corporate report but introduced a new initiative focused on hiring U.S. military veterans.
