Google's Gemini app can now generate videos from static images

Starting today, Google Gemini user can begin generating short video clips from static images.

To start using Gemini's image-to-video generation, click the "tools" option in the prompt bar and then select "video." Gemini will output your request in a 16:9 landscape format, so the resulting clips won't be great for sharing on social media — unlike those generated by TikTok's AI Alive feature, for example. However, Veo 3 is currently one of the only AI models capable of generating synced audio alongside the video it creates.
