Gov. Gavin Newsom launches website to fight misinformation about California’s fires

The California Fire Facts page is meant fight misinformation and help the public access up-to-date information about the wildfires

It was inspired by allegedly false information being spread by Fox News, Donald Trump, and “Elon Musk’s platform,” or X, formerly known as Twitter, according to a press release. “There is an astonishing amount of mis- and dis-information being spread online - much of it by so-called leaders and partisan media outlets who seek to divide this country for their own political gain,” said Governor Newsom in a statement. The Fox News article cites a Newsweek story that references, but does not link to, an analysis of California’s 2024 Budget Bill from the state’s Legislative Analyst’s Office.
