Groundbreaking tooth-growing drug approaches human trials

A new drug that regrows human teeth is set to enter human trials this year, after a year of clinical trials.

The drug's specific intent was aiding those who suffer from tooth agenesis, an issue in which permanent teeth develop incorrectly, resulting in them falling out or never properly growing at all. "We want to do something to help those who are suffering from tooth loss or absence," lead researcher Katsu Takahashi told The Mainichi, a Japanese newspaper. Takahashi said he is also hoping tooth-regrowth medicine could become a third solution to tooth loss alongside dentures and implants without the need for buying replacements or intrusive surgeries.
