It is in these HDMI cables where we see companies apply techniques to minimize interference (like crosstalk, EMI), optimize conductivity (high purity copper wiring), improve durability, and use stringent manufacturing standards to achieve verifiably reliable performance. Based on the data rate, this is how we know what screen resolutions and framerates the source device (like your UHD BluRay player, computer, AppleTV, nVidia Shield TV) and display can handle. As with hi-fi audio and the need for low ambient noise for best listening experience, likewise I can't imagine seriously enjoying high quality video unless the lights are turned down.
