If I compare it to the Nordics and Finland, back then if you were a talented esports athlete you could just tell your school, “Hey, I’m going to take a gap year because I’m pursuing this career. Kajetski: It wasn’t as if one day the government woke up and announced, “Now this is a legitimate business.” It was a combination of publishers starting to see, hey, this is a real market with a lot of players–the GCC especially, they have many devices. We’ve grown the team and hired people that have done these kinds of events to combine the creative and community and regional understanding with this ESL-esque tournament organizing.
