How to See the Conjunction Between Mars, Jupiter, and the Moon


On the 27th, the celestial bodies will form an unusual triangle in the sky just before dawn.

August has delivered many spectacular sights in the night sky: a supermoon, meteor showers, and supercharged auroras. If a viewer uses advanced observing instruments, they will also be able to see the red-giant stars Aldebaran above the triangle and Betelgeuse below in the northern hemisphere. Each body appears regularly in the sky, but because they move at different speeds and their distance from Earth varies, they have unique behaviors at night.
