How to sue a hacker using Bitcoin
Talk about a killer app.
It is, in fact, even easier to serve notice of a lawsuit to someone using blockchain technology than it is in real life, because you don’t need a person’s identity to do it. The case in question is a lawsuit by Ryan Dellone, who has served a wallet belonging to an unknown individual with notice that they’re being sued, Krebs on Security reports. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission won a default judgment in that case; the DAO was ordered to pay more than $640,000 in penalties and stop existing.
