How Ukraine’s cyber police fights back against Russia’s hackers

In an interview, Ukraine's cyber police chief tells TechCrunch how life changed after Russia's invasion and how Ukraine combats disruptive cyberattacks targeting its critical infrastructure.

“Our responsibility changed after the full scale war started,” said Yevhenii Panchenko, the chief of division of the Cyberpolice Department of the National Police of Ukraine, during a talk on Tuesday in New York City. During the talk at the Chainalysis LINKS conference, Panchenko said that the Cyberpolice is comprised of around a thousand employees, of which about forty track crypto-related crimes. And also, we inform other law enforcement agencies in countries who cooperate with us about the actors who we identify as part of the groups that committed attacks on Ukrainian territory or to our critical infrastructure.
