I’d rather be rejected by a human, say graduates who can’t find a job


The increasing use of artificial intelligence, for applications and rejections, a stagnant economy and tax rises have kept demand high, but opportunities scarce

Last week, High Fliers, the market research company, found graduate hiring at the country’s top 100 employers had slumped by 14.6 per cent last year, the fourth annual fall and the steepest decline since 2009. Holt said: “Given the speculation around upcoming budget measures, it’s unlikely we’ll see a significant shift in recruitment patterns in the near term as businesses evaluate their investment strategies in response to policy commitments and the rapid pace of change brought by AI and new technologies.”
