IBM LinuxONE Emperor 5 Announced For Linux Servers Powered By Telum II


Last month IBM announced the z17 mainframe powered by Telum II processors and today they announced the IBM LinuxONE Emperor 5 servers.

IBM LinuxONE Emperor 5 makes use of the new Telum II processors and thus the built-in AI acceleration is one of their big talking points with this new generation of servers. The IBM Spyre PCIe accelerator cards will also be available beginning in Q4 to further bolster the AI capabilities of LinuxONE 5. The tech specs on the new LinuxONE 5 servers has so far been light on details in the now-public pages.
