The January 1991 issue of The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ Computer magazine published an article entitled “A Performance Comparison of the IBM RS/6000 and the Astronautics ZS-1”. Its full support of the IEEE floating-point standard would complicate the typical problems of implementing this architecture at a much faster clock speed. It concluded: “The cabinet design of the HA-H70’s S00 rack shares features with other systems at the high end of the RS/6000 line—matte black in color, strongly architectural in appearance, and generally distinctive.
