Intel Preps Linux For "Platform Temperature Control" With Lunar Lake & Panther Lake SoCs

Intel's new Platform Temperature Control (PTC) feature is a hardware-based solution to manage skin and/or board temperatures of a device

But new Linux patches posted allow controlling the Intel Platform Temperature Control feature found with new Core Ultra Lunar Lake laptops and upcoming Panther Lake hardware. PTC can work without the involvement of the operating system but the newly-posted Linux patches are being done to allow tuning it. On the basis that some OEMs may set too aggressive of a temperature target limit, the Intel PTC Linux patches allow manipulating the target limits so you aren't cutting back the power/performance too much.
