Japan to use AI-powered drones for crime prevention in disaster zones

Japan police is going to deploy AI drones for spotting suspicious activity in disaster zones to reduce post-evacuation crime.

Japan’s government has signaled its plans to develop drones with artificial intelligence (AI) and cameras capable of autonomously identifying suspicious individuals during flights over disaster zones. According to a Chinese media outlet, drones are set to aid law enforcement by employing AI to identify unusual activities in disaster zones, such as people carrying objects between ruined structures. Japan, the United Kingdom, and Italy aim to create an aircraft by the mid-2030s that combines speed, stealth, advanced sensors, and AI, capable of launching hypersonic missiles and potentially flying without a pilot.
