Javier Bardem Is Menacing and Thrilling in 'Dune: Part Two'—and a Soulful Teddy Bear IRL

He’s known for playing fanatics and murderous psychopaths. In real life, the actor loves his wife (and Brad Pitt) and cries during E.T.

This is evident in his decades-long body of work, from his early performance as Cuban author Reinaldo Arenas in Before Night Falls to his chilling, Oscar-winning portrayal of Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men. Stilgar didn’t have much to do in Part One, but in Two, he’s the steady drumbeat behind Paul Atreides’ messianic rise to power on the scorching desert planet Arrakis. I guess one that is not the most pleasant, which is to rediscover yourself and to restructure your knowledge and thoughts and way of thinking, and yeah, based on the mirror you have in front of you that is reflecting the pure spitting image of yourself.
