During the last couple of years of Trump’s first term, a wave of big tech companies made commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions — ostensibly in line with what’s needed to reach Paris climate agreement goals. The Inflation Reduction Act alone is projected to slash greenhouse gas emissions by roughly 40 percent from 2005 levels by the end of the decade — bringing the US close to reaching goals President Joe Biden set upon recommitting the US to the Paris climate agreement.
