Jon Stewart’s coming back to The Daily Show, but only on Mondays

The Daily Show’s search for a new host has ended with Jon Stewart.

In a statement about the news, Showtime / MTV Entertainment Studios president Chris McCarthy described Stewart as “the voice of our generation,” whose political perspectives are going to be invaluable as we get deeper into the 2024 presidential election cycle. “In our age of staggering hypocrisy and performative politics, Jon is the perfect person to puncture the empty rhetoric and provide much-needed clarity with his brilliant wit,” McCarthy said. In the year during Comedy Central’s search for someone to replace Noah, multiple guest hosts sat in for brief stints at The Daily Show desk, and a somewhat similar structure’s going to remain in place going forward.
