Kamala Harris' Rally Crowds Aren't AI-Generated. Here's How You Can Tell

Conspiracy theories have shot up around images of surging crowds for Harris-Walz campaign events. But all it takes is a little research to prove the photos are real.

It's incredibly easy for a social media user to create an AI-generated image, claim it came from a news report or live footage of an event, then use obvious flaws in that fake image as "evidence" that the event itself was faked. Writing on LinkedIn, UC Berkeley professor Hany Farid cited two GetReal Labs models as showing "no evidence of AI generation" in the Harris rally photos posted by Trump. Simply circling odd-looking things in a photo with a red marker is not necessarily strong evidence of AI manipulation in and of itself.
