Lawsuit challenging age verification for adult websites dropped in Florida

A lawsuit challenging a Florida law requiring age verification for adult websites in Florida is dismissed.

U.S. District Judge Mark Walker approved the motion to dismiss on July 8, a day after it was filed by attorneys of the Free Speech Coalition, the trade association of the adult entertainment industry. Nearly two weeks earlier, the U.S. Supreme Court released its 6-3 opinion, which Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in a footnote that 21 other states, including Florida, have imposed similar age verification requirements "to access sexual material that is harmful to minors." Florida wasn't alone in facing litigation for this type of law, since Free Speech Coalition also filed challenges in states including Tennessee, Louisiana, Utah, Indiana, Montana.
