Mark Zuckerberg Vows to Be Neutral–While Tossing Gifts to Trump and the GOP


In a letter to Congress, the Meta CEO echoed what many right-wingers have claimed for years: that some of the company’s content decisions amounted to censorship.

For months, the GOP-led committee has been on a crusade to prove that Meta, via its once-eponymous Facebook app, engaged in political sabotage by taking down right-wing content. (Responding to the Zuckerberg letter, the White House said, “When confronted with a deadly pandemic, this Administration encouraged responsible actions to protect public health and safety,” and left the final decision to Facebook.) It seems that Meta will offer no pushback while GOP legislators and right-wing commentators crow that Facebook now concedes that it blatantly censored conservatives as a matter of policy.
