Microsoft and PNNL team up to build better batteries using AI

Microsoft has announced a partnership with PNNL to use AI and quantum computing to accelerate battery and materials research for energy storage solutions.

The mission of the partnership is clear: sift through the vast chemical universe to find the building blocks of more powerful, longer-lasting, and environmentally friendly batteries. Similar to the Microsoft and PNNL collaboration, GNoME utilizes sophisticated deep learning techniques to rapidly screen hypothetical materials and identify promising candidates. As the project continues to evolve, its success may well determine the pace at which we approach the frontiers of sustainable technology and energy independence, setting a precedent for future collaborations that combine cutting-edge tech with caring for the environment.
