Microsoft bought more than twice as many of Nvidia's flagship chip than any of its biggest rivals like Meta and Google.

Microsoft bought more than twice as many Nvidia Hopper chips this year than any of its biggest rivals. Microsoft is building its own custom AI chips, too, called Maia, which it announced at its Ignite conference in late 2023. Microsoft deepened its partnership with OpenAI and participated in the company’s colossal$6.6 billion funding round in October.
