Microsoft is adding AI-powered summaries to Bing search results
Microsoft is beginning previews of its Bing generative search, which will insert AI-powered summaries above the usual results.
And while Microsoft did emphasize in the blog post that it developed generative search without the intent of ruining web publishers' business, it's worth repeating that this kind of AI tool is not a replacement for actual news. When Reddit said last month that it would block unauthorized data scraping from its site, everyone’s (rightful) first reaction was “AI.” However, now that the change has taken effect, search engines that don’t have deals with the website now appear to be locked out. Cybersecurity company Dragos has flagged malware that can attack industrial control systems (ICS), tricking them into things like turning off the heat and running cold water in the middle of winter.
