Microsoft lays off 650 more Xbox employees

The cuts follow layoffs impacting 1,900 employees earlier this year.

The latest cuts come months after Microsoft laid off 1,900 Activision Blizzard and Xbox employees, and after the closure of several game studios, including Redfall developer Arkane Austin. Microsoft completed its $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard in October, following months of battles with regulators in the UK and US. Separately, as part of running the business, there are some impacts to other teams as they adapt to shifting priorities and manage the lifecycle and performance of games.
