Microsoft’s Recall AI is creepy, clever, and compelling

Microsoft says it will “record an impairment charge of approximately $800 million in the second quarter of fiscal year 2025” that’s tied to GM’s decision to pull funding for Cruise’s robotaxi service. The Financial Times reports that Mustafa Suleyman, cofounder of Google DeepMind, has now hired multiple former colleagues to help run a new AI health unit at Microsoft. Microsoft stopped offering 24H2 to gamers with certain Ubisoft games installed recently, but it’s now opening the door for players of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Star Wars Outlaws.
