Minecraft is entering the real world

Real-world Minecraft attractions are on the way, thanks to a newly-inked deal between Minecraft owner Microsoft and Merlin Entertainments.

The Guardian reports that Microsoft, the owner of the Minecraft video game franchise, has struck a deal with European theme park operator Merlin Entertainments to open Minecraft-themed attractions, including rides, retail outlets, and hotel rooms. Merlin plans to invest more than $110 million in the first two Minecraft attractions, which will open in the U.K. and U.S. in the next two years either in an existing park or new city center. Last year, the game became the first single title to pass 300 million in sales, ahead of Grand Theft Auto V, Wii Sports, and PUBG: Battlegrounds.
