More Wear OS watch faces will use less power in the future

Google is urging developers to use a new method for creating energy-efficient watch faces for Wear OS smartwatches.

Wear OS does the heavy lifting, leaving developers free to craft watch faces without getting bogged down by code optimizations. Although Watch Face Format is not as loaded with features as the Jetpack or Wearable libraries, Google's push is tied to the new hybrid Wear OS interface revealed at MWC 2024. In Wear OS 4, watch faces can smoothly run on the lower-powered co-processor without drawing power from the main processor in dual-chip smartwatches.
