The brain drain could severely impact future research and missions, and is happening not long before the organization plans to send a new crew of astronauts to the Moon in 2026. The Trump administration is asking for an over $6 billion cut to NASA's 2025 budget, which would jeopardize multiple upcoming missions and research projects, including the Gateway lunar orbit station.
