National Guard Discord leaker sentenced to 15 years in prison
Jack Teixeira admitted to sharing classified military information to the ‘Thug Shaker Central’ Discord server.
While stationed at an air base in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, Teixeira was granted a Top-Secret//Sensitive Compartmented Information security clearance necessary for “maintaining and troubleshooting” classified workstations in the intelligence wing. The 22-year-old Teixeira was arrested last year after authorities found that he posted classified information on a private Discord server called “Thug Shaker Central” with about 20 active users, according to Bellingcat. TheNew York Times reported that a trail of digital evidence, including a distinctive pattern on a granite countertop in his childhood home, linked Teixeira to the leaked material.
