Naughty Dog's Neil Druckmann has discussed his decision to step away from the TV adapation of The Last of Us for the third season, stating he'd accomplished his "crazy goal" of elevating video games. While he's now returned to full-time video game development on the forthcoming Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, he will remain somewhat involved in The Last of Us at a "very high level" to make sure it's "as deeply faithful as Season One was". "I feel like that is the gold standard for this kind of adaptation, while enjoying all these beautiful expansions that happen naturally with the rest of the team and how they're working on Season Three," Druckmann told Variety.
