Assuming no objections from Linus Torvalds, the now open Linux 6.15 merge window could introduce a brand new subsystem: fwctl. Jason Gunthorpe of NVIDIA sent out the pull request today for introducing the fwctl subsystem to the Linux 6.15 kernel:"fwctl is a new subsystem intended to bring some common rules and order to the growing pattern of exposing a secure FW interface directly to userspace. fwctl generalizes this notion of a companion debug and management interface that goes along with a dataplane implemented in an appropriate subsystem."
