University of Texas at Dallas has found that gold nanoparticles, when used as a contrast agent in X-rays, can provide a more accurate picture of kidney health. As per the press release: “Before administering renal-clearable drugs, doctors routinely check a patient’s kidney function by testing their blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr) levels.” Her work has been featured in well-known publications including Nature India, Supercluster, The Weather Channel and Astronomy magazine.
