Nix – Death by a Thousand Cuts
thoughts, talks, docs and unpopular opinions
I spent so much time cobbling together hacky configs that when I step back and look at the house of cards I have built, it is apparent Nix has created more problems then solutions for me. You can simply define your hostname, timezone, X settings, mount points, shells, and basic services (ie - networking, ssh, printing, virtualization, firewall). That machine has been running for a long time and only serves a handful of static files, but even that causes enough bad blocks on the SD card that I need to replace it every year or two.
