NJ makes COVID-19 vaccines widely available amid Trump restrictions

Vaccines will be available to all six months and older

In a significant move this week, the New Jersey Department of Health issued a new order making COVID-19 vaccines available to all residents aged six months and older for the upcoming respiratory illness season. The directive, signed by Acting Health Commissioner Jeff Brown, allows universal access to the shots, even after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s recent move to restrict vaccine eligibility at the federal level. The new policies come as COVID-19 cases are rising nationwide and after the FDA’s new limits surrounding who can get a vaccination — focusing access on those with underlying medical conditions that put them at higher risk of severe illness.
