No more TikTok FYP? California social media bill could totally reshape kids' online world

Big changes could be ahead in Cali.

And two: It would bar social media platforms from sending notifications to minors (sans parental approval) between 12 a.m. and 6 a.m., and between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on weekdays during the school year. "Every parent knows the harm social media addiction can inflict on their children — isolation from human contact, stress and anxiety, and endless hours wasted late into the night," Newsom said in a statement, via the Associated Press. However, the bill's authors note that the state's attorney general will have to implement age verification and parental consent regulations by 2027, though it remains unclear what those would look like.
